We are glad that you have joined our community dedicated to the new mega-multiplayer online game, Elf Island! While you are here, there are a number of rules that you will need to follow. Breaking these rules will result in holds on your account, which may be in the form of an infraction or a ban from our site. The following rules are enforced at all times. Please be aware of these rules when posting on our discussion boards, leaving messages on profile pages, and using our forum chat system, as you will be responsible for your actions.

Elf Island Fansite Staff Members
Elf Island Fansite Moderators are individuals who have been selected by Elf Island Fansite Administrators to moderate the fansite by showing a measure of leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of the Forum Rules. Both moderators and administrators play an active role in keeping you safe by assisting in the enforcement of the rules.

G-Rated Community
Elf Island Fansite is a family community. The entire site, therefore, will be G-Rated. When posting, it is vital to keep in mind that the things you are discussing must be suitable for viewers of all ages.

Material that is not permitted includes, but is not limited to, the following: Profane, vulgar, or obscene language; mild or extreme violence; drug or alcohol references; gambling; discussion of adult behavior; lawbreaking activities; songs, games or motion pictures that include any of the aforementioned; and anything else of an inappropriate nature.

Any material that includes items of the above nature will be removed by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff, and a hold will be placed on your account.

Personal Information
Since this is a G-Rated community and we want to keep every one of you safe, we do not allow personal information to be shared.

Material that is not permitted includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Your phone number, address, or e-mail address; your state, province, or territory; your county or parish; your city, town, or neighborhood; stating your own job or occupation, or that of a friend or family member; pictures or videos of yourself, your friends, or members of your family; your age; or your name.

In extension, you are not allowed to request the above information, or any of the following:
Financial information including credit card information, bank account information, or and usernames and/or passwords corresponding to financial Web sites; username and/or password information to any Web site.

Any material that includes or requests items mentioned above will be removed by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff, and a hold will be placed on your account.

Flaming and Harassment
Flaming, which occurs when a member directly insults or criticizes another individual, is not allowed on this site. Flaming has the potential to hurt an individual badly, and will not be tolerated. Directly insulting an object, such as a signature, an avatar, another Web site, and things of like nature, is considered flaming. Directly insulting a nationality or race by making any derogatory comments will not be tolerated, and is also considered flaming. Any instance of flaming will be removed from the Web site by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff, and a hold will be placed on your account.

Harassing any individual on this Web site will not be tolerated. If you have an issue with harassment, please send a private message to a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff, and they will assist you.

We also do not allow favoritism of individuals. For example, you are not allowed to declare your favorite Elf Island staff member, but you are allowed to declare your favorite Elf Island item. Favoritism usually leads to flaming and hurt feelings. Any instance of favoritism will be removed from the Web site by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff, and a hold will be placed on your account.

Impersonating Others
Impersonating another individual is strongly prohibited on this Web site. This includes, but is not limited to, the impersonation of a celebrity, an Elf Island Staff member, a staff member from this Web site or any other Web site, or anyone else that is not you. Impersonating another individual will result in a hold on your account, and further action will be taken if necessary.

Multiple Accounts
Members are allowed only two accounts per IP address or household. If you create a third account under your IP address, a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff will contact you regarding its deletion. Using any second account for any kind of personal gain is against the rules and will not be tolerated.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is not tolerated at Elf Island Fansite. Taking anyone’s information or artwork from another discussion board or Web site without citing the source is considered plagiarism. If you plan on citing an external Web site, please remember to get it approved in advance by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff. Additionally, taking information from Elf Island Fansite and posting it elsewhere is considered plagiarism. If you are found plagiarizing information, a hold will be placed on your account, and further action will be taken if necessary.

Begging
Requesting for anything free is prohibited on this Web site, with few exceptions. You are not allowed to ask for any Elf Island item, Elf Island Fansite item (such as reputation of a vBExperience gift), money, food, or anything of like nature. You are allowed to request a graphic, but begging is not tolerated. However, the person is not required to fill your order. Please be polite when requesting graphics from other members. Begging or requesting anything free, aside from graphics, is not allowed here and will result in a hold on your account.

Spamming
Spamming is the act of posting the same item repetitively. This includes posting the same thread more than once, posting the same post more than once, and using one letter over and over. You are only allowed to repeat a word or letter four times before it is considered spam. Spam also includes posts or threads that have no real point or meaning. Spam will be removed by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff. Spamming will result in a hold on your account.

The primary language of Elf Island Fansite is English, so we ask that you post in English only. Though it is commendable that you speak a foreign language, it would be challenging for our team of moderators to translate your post(s) into English in order to fully moderate them. Posting in languages other than English will be considered spam.

Spoiler tags are to be used to hide spoilers only. Using these tags for other purposes may be considered spam.

Advertising
Advertising is the act of posting external links, images, or information for personal or company gain. Advertising is not permitted on this Web site. You may only post links from the official Elf Island Web site, http://www.elfisland.com, this Web site, http://www.elfislandfansite.com, and official Disney Web sites, http://www.disney.com. If you desire to post an external link or image that is not from the aforementioned Web pages, please send a private message to an Elf Island Fansite staff member with your request, and they will either approve or disapprove the link or image.

Although we have advanced BBCode capabilities on this Web site, you are not allowed to embed a YouTube, Google, Real Media video, or any other video without prior permission from an Elf Island Fansite staff member. Do not add any e-mail address or flash object into your posts at all. If you post any of this prohibited material, it will be removed and a hold will be placed on your account.

Multiple Posting
Double posting, or posting in the same thread twice in a row, is not allowed on Elf Island Fansite. If you have something to add to your post, you may use the "Edit" button located at the bottom of your post to modify it.

The only exception to the multiple posting rule is bumping a thread, or “bringing up my post.” If the last post in a certain thread was yours, you must wait 24 hours from the time stamped on your last post until you can post in that thread again.

Overtaking Threads
Taking over threads in any forum, especially the Trading Market is not allowed here at Elf Island Fansite. Examples of this include, but are not limited to: Posting an offer for the same items the original poster is looking for; or offering the same items that the original poster is offering. Any instances of this will be removed, and a hold will be placed on your account. If you see any post that you feel is in violation of overtaking a trade thread, please report the post immediately.

Beliefs
Discussing political or religious beliefs is not allowed on this site. You are able to wish someone a “Happy [insert celebration],” but no further. If you do not celebrate a holiday due to a religious conviction, you are not allowed to discuss your beliefs, only that you do not celebrate the holiday. You are not allowed to post asking for people to pray for anyone (including the ill or bereaved, or members of the military of any country). If you post any material of this nature, it will be removed and a hold will be placed on your account.

Backseat Moderating
Backseat moderating, or imitating a staff member, is against the rules. While a friendly reminder is fine, you are not allowed to declare a thread or post as spam, or tell individuals that they are breaking the rules in some way. These actions should be carried out only by Reporting a Post using the Report Post feature.

Signatures
The area directly under your post that can include an image or text is called a signature. You will find the location to edit your signature in your User Control Panel, or under “Quick Links.” Your signature image can be no larger than 500x200 pixels, with two lines of text, links, or userbars underneath.



Any signature over these limits will be removed by a member of the Elf Island Fansite staff.

Using our Chat
Elf Island Fansite also has a forum chat system, which runs only at times moderators are available to oversee the chat room. When you are inside the chat room, all of the Site Rules apply.

There are some additional rules for the chat. You are not allowed to use bold, italics, or any colored fonts. Bold and italics are reserved for moderators and administrators only.


In the chat room, you can identify a Chat Operator by the “@” next to his or her name in the user list. If you break any site rules, administrators and moderators have the ability to kick you out of the chat room, to ban your screen name from the chat room, to ban your IP from the chat room, and even to ban you permanently from the forums.
